We are a brotherhood of heavy grooves, positive vibrations, and ENERGY…Lot’s of that.
From it’s inception in 2005 Relative Souls has run the hypothetical gauntlet.
But two things never changed along the way: The commitment to cultivate a pocket so deep it’s almost abysmal and the predisposition to create a sphere of energy so powerful that people just can’t help but get up and get down. Relative Souls will make you groove.
Relative Souls believes that music brings everyone together. Their music is timeless and eclectic, and while drawing from many classic influences, the approach is modern and fresh. The jamming vibe of Phish, the Dead, and the Allman brothers, the funkiness of Sly, Bill Withers, and P-Funk, the rock of Led Zeppelin, Guns N’Roses, and Pink Floyd, the vocal soulfulness of Joe Cocker and Marvin Gaye, with some of the electro ambient creations of Radiohead and the Disco Biscuits. A gumbo of great musical influences, all played in a fresh, dynamic context. The bottom line is people are either dancing or going nuts.
Relative Souls is a high energy band from Bridgeport, CT. Equal parts funk, jam, and rock music. There are two types of people that like to come see Relative Souls…those that like to get up, and those that like to get down!
Relative Souls made its mark on the New England and Tri-State festival scene in 2012 for main stage performances at Strange Creek (MA), Flower Harvest Fest (NY), Shake It Down Fest (CT), Westport Art About Town Fest (CT), New Haven Arts and Ideas Festival (CT), SoNo Arts Festival (CT), and Wormtown (MA). Other festivals include a main stage performance at Steel Jam Festival (Bethlehem, PA) in 2011, Green Soul Fest (Boston, MA), and Sounds of the Cosmos (Hamden, CT). The band is also a favorite of the annual Fridays after Five series in Rutland, VT, playing to 1500 people at a block party. Relative Souls has opened for Umphrey’s McGee, Keller Williams, The Alan Evans Trio (drummer from Soulive), The Breakfast, Viral Sound, Fungus Amungus, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, the New York Funk Exchange, and Kung Fu to name a few. They’ve also shared bills with other festival favorites Twiddle, SEED, and the Juicy Grapes.
